with Kristen...
and my family. It was fun. Allow me to walk you through it.
We were in Wisconsin, where there are machines that vend earthworms and minnows for to catch the fish with. This is not really my cup of tea. I like my tea with booze, not invertibrates.
While I love my family very much, I was reminded why I can't live there. This may sound harsh, but bear with me. I can't live in Wisconsin because we have too much fun when I'm there. Life shuts down and the fun begins. If I were there all the time, we probably wouldn't do fun things like.....
....go sledding. Now, Kristen is from the Eastern part of North Carolina. She has never been sledding. Not by my standards anyway.
I keep calling it sledding, but Kristen has corrected me enough for me to know that this is "tubing". And it's not just tubing because of the equiptment used. Oh no. The explaination extends far beyond simple things such as that. Apparently, sledding occurs only when you, the collective you, tromp into the woods somewhere and throw yourselves down a large hill and attempt to avoid trees and the occational car. What we did is not that. We went here.
This is the Kewaunee Winter Park. It has all sorts of fun things to do in the blustery cold, like skiing and snow boarding. I know all of you from the mountains would laugh if you looked at a topographical map of the lake shore area. We do what we can, so keep your sniggering to a dull roar please.
Now, I have never been to a place that is this manicured before. Part of the fun of sledding, is running into people. The more you eat snow, the better. I mean, that's the point. When I'm done sledding, I want there to be snow in every nook and cranny of my clothing. I want no material left un-drenched. The part that I didn't mind giving up was the hike back up the hill.
So I pose this question out to the masses: Is this sledding? Tubing? Both? What is the basis by which you define the two? AND MOST IMPORTANTLY: How do you do it?
